12 Months of
More Project

Hi everyone. I’m sure a lot of you are thinking – what in the hell is this girl going on about now? Well, I’ve challenged myself to spend the next 365 days consciously changing my spending and consuming habits. For the next year, I will have to abide by a set of rules that I have created.

Now I didn’t just come up with this plan out of the blue. My experiment was completely inspired by Cait Flanders and her “The Year of Less” book. Cait is a minimalist and I definitely don’t think I could classify my life as one of a minimalist, but I did resonate with her desires to spend less of my money on material goods.

More importantly though, I understood Cait’s will to spend more of her time, energy and focus on the quality of her life rather than being so caught up in all the things that at the end of your life won’t really matter – hence the title of my little experiment.

Over the next twelve months, I plan to prove to myself that less really is more. Instead of shopping “just because” or buying something because I think I “need” it, I’m going to invest that money into my future, experiences, and the causes that I believe will make this world a better place.

If this sounds like something you could be interested in, I hope you check out my journal – a cyber space I will use to help hold myself accountable for the next year of consuming less.
